The Volvik Race for the Card welcomes a fresh top-10 following the 16th tournament of the 2019 Epson Tour campaign, with one individual continuing to climb and several others standing pat as the first six positions remain unchanged.
Even though she did not compete in The CDPHP Open, Perrine Delacour (Paris, France) continues to set the pace with total season earnings of $113,501. Jillian Hollis (Rocky River, Ohio) also did not make the trek to Albany County, but still has No. 2 on lockdown at $93,821. Meanwhile, Leona Maguire (County Cavan, Ireland) ended tied for 16th in the Capital Region to get to $84,149 for the year.
Checking in at No. 4 is Epson Tour rookie Patty Tavatanakit (Bangkok, Thailand) with $75,646. Then it is Julieta Granada (Asuncion, Paraguay), after a tied for 16th showing in the Empire State helped her reach $70,837 earned in 2019.
“There’s still a long way to go with seven events left and that provides plenty of motivation,” said Tavatanakit, a two-time winner this season coming off a tied for 52nd performance. “Being in this position allows for more of a focus on my game, instead of worrying how I can get into the top-10. As long as I take care of cashing a paycheck each week down the stretch, the rest will work itself out.”
Leading the second half is Ssu-Chia Cheng (Taipei, Chinese Taipei) with $62,553. Next is Jenny Coleman (Rolling Hills Estates, California) at $61,350, coming off her fifth top-five in the last eight events. The University of Colorado alumna is also closely pursued by another former Buffaloes standout Esther Lee (Los Alamitos, California) as $1,317 separates the duo.
“Every time you have a good start this point of the season, the goal is to better it the next time out,” Coleman said. “It’s great to jump two places and I’m on a hot streak, so just try to keep it going. You always have to keep an offensive mindset and I can’t wait for the chase all the way to the end.”
Rounding out the group is Nuria Iturrioz (Mallorca, Spain), who drops two spots having collected $57,990, and Min Seo Kwak (Seoul, Republic of Korea) just $1,280 back.
At the end of the season, the top-10 players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2020 season.
