Kim started playing golf at the age of eight years old. She also enjoys hiking, swimming, basketball and watching comedies.

- Two-time runner-up at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship (2006, 2009).
- Winner of the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at the age of 14.
- Competed in three U.S. Women's Open Championships (2006 - 2009).
- Runner-up at the 2009 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.
- Individual winner of the 2009 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship while at the University of Denver.
