Trotter started playing golf at the age of 11. When Trotter isn't on the course she enjoys drawing and running.

- 2009 Big West Conference Second Team selection while at the University of California - Irvine.
- Advanced to the round of 16 at the 2010 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.
- Competed in the 2010 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
- Runner-up finish at the 2011 Colorado Open.
- Recorded seven wins on the Cactus Tour.
- Finished second at the 2011 CN Canadian Women's Tour event in Squamish, British Columbia.
- Winner of the 2012 HealthONE Colorado Women's Open.
