It was a day of resilience Saturday for the team aptly named Weapons of Grass Destruction.

Gina Kim and Yana Wilson carded an even-par 70 in Saturday’s third-round foursomes at the Dow Championship, moving to 9-under 201 through 54 holes and into solo second place at Midland Country Club. The duo trails leaders Hye-Jin Choi and Hyo Joo Kim by one stroke heading into Sunday’s final-round four-ball.

The alternate-shot format has a way of testing partnerships, and Saturday was no exception. Kim and Wilson absorbed a pair of hiccups, only one on the front and back nine, but answered each time with clutch birdies—a fitting reflection of a team that has made bouncing back look routine.

Wilson is in her first LPGA Tour season after graduating from the Epson Tour and has quickly shown the poise of a seasoned competitor. The American rookie has made the cut in six of eight starts this season, including a tie for 15th at the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass. The 19-year-old made her mark on the Epson Tour, having claimed two victories in 2025 at the Reliance Matrix Championship presented by Epson and the Dream First Bank Charity Classic. She builds a vision board each year with her goals written out—and a podium finish at the Dow Championship may be looking increasingly realistic on that board.

Kim knows a thing or two about goals, perseverance, and finding your footing again. The American carved out four victories on the Epson Tour—including three in 2025 alone—after a period where she rediscovered her love for the game, crediting in large part the year she spent with her mother on the bag. The 26-year-old earned her LPGA Tour card through the Epson Tour and is looking to add an LPGA Tour title to what is already a remarkable personal comeback story.

The pair teed off Saturday at 12:18 p.m. alongside Alison Lee and Lilia Vu’s team, Lavuvu, who themselves used the round to leap from a tie for eighth into solo third—just one stroke behind Weapons of Grass Destruction and two back of the leaders.

Kim and Wilson absorbed a bogey on the opening hole, slipping to 8-under to begin the round. They steadied quickly, rattling off four consecutive pars before a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole restored them to 9-under. Four more pars closed out the front nine and they turned at 35, right where they needed to be.

The back nine mirrored that same script. A bogey on the par-4 12th nudged them back to 8-under, but the team showed its championship mettle with five straight pars before closing with a birdie on the par-3 18th to recover to 9-under and post the matching 35—an even-par 70 for the day.

Sunday’s final round shifts to four-ball, or best-ball format, which should give both Kim and Wilson the freedom to be aggressive. The 72-hole Dow Championship does not award Rolex Rankings points, but a victory is an official LPGA Tour title—the kind both players have not yet claimed on the LPGA Tour.

One shot separates first from second with 18 holes remaining. For Weapons of Grass Destruction, one more round could change everything.
