After a week off from Epson Tour competition, athletes teed up this morning and afternoon in the first round of the Four Winds Invitational. Now with the second half of the season officially underway, a plethora of athletes took advantage of the calmer winds resulting in a party at the top of the leaderboard, with a two-way tie for first place through round one.

Huai-Chen Hsu was the second leader in the clubhouse, after firing a 6-under highlighted by a dramatic opening stretch. The 2026 LPGA Collegiate Advancement Pathway graduate started her round with a hole out for eagle on the par-4, first. 2-under through one, the University of Texas alumna settled into her round, before diving deeper into the red sinking birdie putts on holes four and six.

Once Hsu approached No. 7 tee box, she faltered with a bogey, but did not let it mess with the momentum, and round the turn 4-under par. The 22-year-old had a clean back nine and drained two more birdies to sign for her 66 and sit in a tie for first in only her fourth Epson Tour start.

Jennifer Rosenberg was the first leader in the clubhouse, opening her tournament with a 6-under round, highlighted by nine birdies, the most in a round Rosenberg can remember dropping. The New York native began her day with three birdies through her first six holes and was cruising until a string of mishaps on holes eight and nine.

Rosenberg made a double bogey, followed by a bogey as she headed into her back nine.

“I am super aware of my emotions, and I caught myself getting really frustrated, expressed Rosenberg. “After nine, I had a little chat with myself and I was like, 'just let it go, you know, we're trying to have fun. We're going to have a good time. We'll see what we can do on the back nine.'”

I am not sure even Rosenberg was truly ready what was in store for her back nine, as she started with a birdie on 10, followed by three more in a row on holes 12-14. The Tulane University alumna kept hitting “insane” shot after shot, to find two more birdies on holes 16 and 17 to finish out her first 18 holes of the tournament.

On 17, Rosenberg hit her 5-iron off the tee on the 183-yard par-3 and landed it just inside 6-feet to convert the birdie and finish her round on a high note, after what has been a struggling season thus far.

“I've been struggling this season, mentioned Rosenberg. “So finally, being able to put a round together definitely kind of lets me relax a bit. I've been a little tense at tournaments. I got a little tense at the end today, but I'm really trying to kind of calm myself down the whole day and take that moving forward.”

After the morning groups finished, Alice Hodge made her way to the top of the leaderboard through the afternoon wave. Hodge a Florida State University alumna, put together a bogey-free round to find herself in a tie for third.

Hodge’s round was highlighted with back-to-back birdies on holes five and six, ultimately signing for an even 5-under to card a 67 on the day.

2025 Four Winds Invitational Champion, Leah John showed her talent after carding a round of 4-under, 68. John’s round puts her in the group just behind the rest of the pack sitting in a tie for sixth with 11 other athletes.
