Round two’s sunny skies set the stage for the opportunity to go low in the morning wave at RTJ Golf Trail at Capitol Hill – Senator Course. The field of 120 athletes was narrowed down to 61, with the cut line at even par. Among those advancing, several players posted career-best rounds to move up the leaderboard, setting the stage for an exciting final round.

Megan Schofill fired a 6-under 66 to kick off the morning wave. The Epson Tour rookie started strong, with a birdie on her second hole, followed by three more to post a 4-under 32 opening nine. Schofill played steadily on her back nine, sinking two more putts to sign for a bogey-free 66 and found herself in a tie for tenth, five shots off the lead.

Schofill is looking forward to a strong finish and making a final push to potentially hoist her first Epson Tour trophy of her career on Sunday afternoon. The Auburn University alumna is not only enjoying the familiar territory of Prattville, Ala., but has a crowd of family with her this week.

“Yeah, it's super nice. I mean, these are my parents, my coach, and his wife, and then my future in-laws. So it's just really nice to have them. They have obviously helped me a lot along my golf journey. And so for them to come out and watch me play a good round of golf, I'm just happy that I can do it for them because I know they enjoy it if I shoot 100, or if I shoot 59. So it's nice for me to be able to put something together and make it enjoyable for them,” commented Schofill.

After a 6-under in round one, Melanie Green carded a steadier 3-under round of 69, jumping her to 9-under total, moving her into a tie for third after round two of the Guardian Championship. Green is feeling confident with her game, having two clean scorecards going bogey-free through 36 holes. The Epson Tour rookie is looking forward to the final round and battling out for the chance to win her second event of the season and reclaim the top position in the Race for the Card leaderboard.

To finish out the morning wave, Leah John came from behind, after an even par 72 in round one, to post a 5-under 67 on Saturday. The Canadian credits her golf game to the two-week break, spending some much-needed time off with her friends and family, back home in Canada. However, John is still focused and excited to be in the mix come the final round to jump in the Race for the Card rankings and find herself in the coveted top-15.

In the afternoon, Gianna Clemente started off slow, not making a birdie until her sixth hole, but shortly after the 17-year-old made the turn and found four birdies. Clemente finished her round bogey-free and signed for a 5-under 67.

Kaitlyn Papp Budde had a score to chase, and she did just that on Saturday afternoon at the Guardian Championship. The Texas alumna posted a 2-under opening nine before finishing out her round of 67 for the day. Papp Budde, currently No. 30 in the Race for the Card standings, is in solo second at 10-under par heading into tomorrow, looking for the first professional victory of her career on the Epson Tour.

Papp Budde expressed, “It would mean a lot. I feel like my career has been very up and down since I've turned pro, so I feel like I've played a lot of good golf this year. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll continue my great play this week, and just have a fun day out there.”

Epson Tour rookie Yana Wilson played steadily this afternoon, carding a 3-under 69 to keep herself at the top of the leaderboard. Wilson shot 3-under on her opening nine, with back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine. The two-time Epson Tour champion heads into tomorrow not only looking for a back-to-back win but also a chance to join Gina Kim as the only other player to reach three victories this 2025 season.

Wilson commented, “It'd be pretty cool. I look up to Gina a lot, especially, you know, her being on tour before and now winning three times and going back to the LPGA tour. She's kind of been like a role model out here. I'm really just trying to follow in her footsteps. But it'd be pretty cool.”

Hailee Cooper, Gianna Clemente, and Melanie Green sit two shots out of first place heading into the final round. Cooper signed for a 5-under 67 as she heads into the final round looking to add her first professional victory to her resume, as the 2025 Epson Tour season only has two events remaining.
