After 36 holes at the Casella Golf Championship, the field of 144 has been narrowed to 65. Of those remaining, only 12 players are under par for the week, as Pinehaven Country Club continues to live up to its challenging reputation. Cynthia Lu, Briana Chacon, and Camille Boyd share the lead at 5-under, with Boyd and Lu seeking their first Epson Tour title, while Chacon looks to add another trophy to her collection.

Boyd set the pace during the morning wave. Starting on the back nine in round two, she birdied hole 12 to move into red numbers. She then caught fire with three consecutive birdies on holes 16, 17, and 18. Her only blemish came at hole one, where an errant tee shot left her in a tough spot. Boyd steadied herself with eight straight pars to finish with a 3-under 68 on the day.

“I am excited. You know, I've been in contention a handful of times, but I haven’t always closed it out,” said Boyd. “I'm excited to get that chance on Epson, and whatever happens, happens. But I am very excited to try my best.”

Chacon and Lu matched Boyd’s performance during the afternoon wave, with all three carding rounds of 69-68 to finish the day tied for the lead.

Lu has played some of the steadiest golf of the tournament. While she hasn’t made a ton of birdies, she's done an excellent job avoiding mistakes. Through 36 holes, she’s recorded just two bogeys while adding seven birdies. The 23-year-old has only made one cut this season but is seeking her first Epson Tour win. She’s no stranger to being in contention, having posted two top-five finishes in 2024.

Chacon had a rollercoaster of a day, rolling in seven birdies for the round, but also putting four squares on the card. The second round was 360 from the first, with the Epson Tour sophomore making four more birdies and three more bogeys than she did on Thursday. Chacon will try to add herself to the list of multiple wins in 2025 after picking up a victory at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort and Spa early in the season.

“I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing the past two days—just try to stay calm and easy-going out there,” Chacon said. “With my last two wins, I’ve gained experience on how to play under pressure, so I’ll lean on that going into tomorrow and just do my best.”

Due to a forecast of severe weather on Sunday, July 20, the final round will begin with a double tee start at 7:30 a.m. local time. The leaders are scheduled to tee off on hole one at 9:20 a.m. The award ceremony will be held near the 18th green at the conclusion of play, weather permitting. The final round is expected to conclude four and a half to five hours after the leaders begin.
