We are gearing up for the fifth playing of the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic and the second straight year at TPC Scottsdale – Champions Course. When the field of 132 battled the world-renowned course last year, Ruixin Liu went home with the $60,000 check and her second Carlilse Arizona Women’s Golf Classic trophy. Here are three things to know about the 2025 edition:

Biggest Purse and Winner’s Check of the Season

The Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic leads the way for the second straight year when it comes to supporting the Epson Tour athletes as they pursue their LPGA Tour cards. The $400,000 purse is the largest in Epson Tour history, $100,000 more than the next closest tournament on the current schedule.

The winner will take home a $60,000 check and add their name to the tournament’s impressive champions list. All three winners of the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic are current LPGA Tour members. Ruixin Liu took home the hardware in 2024 and the inaugural event in 2021, while Fatima Fernandez Cano won in 2022, and Gabriela Ruffels won in 2023.

LPGA Tour Major Champions in the Field

The Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic caught the attention of a few decorated LPGA Tour players, with Cristie Kerr and Sophia Popov both signed up to play this week in Scottsdale.

Kerr enjoyed an incredible career while competing on the LPGA Tour, winning 20 times, including two major championships at the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2010 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Over the past two seasons, Kerr has played in just four tournaments but is making a resurgence in 2025. So far this season, she’s already played in two LPGA Tour events, will tee it up this week at the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic, and is scheduled to play in the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship later in June.

Popov burst onto the scene after her win at the 2020 AIG Women’s Open as a non-member of the LPGA Tour after qualifying due to a high finish at the Marathon Classic the week before. Since the win, Popov has yet to find herself in the winner’s circle again but has managed three more top-10 finishes and represented Germany in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Players with Local Ties Looking to Win in Back-To-Back Weeks

There are a few Arizona natives in the field this week with Dana Fall, Cristie Kerr, Mina Kreiter, Alexis Lamadrid, and Ashley Menne all calling the Grand Canyon State home. Last week, Las Vegas native Yana Wilson was able to hoist the trophy at the inaugural Reliance Matrix Championship presented by Epson in her hometown.

While Kerr is the only one who calls Scottsdale home, all the Arizona natives will be pushing to get a win in their home state with friends and families in attendance.
