Now, in the second half of the Midwest stretch, the Official Qualifying Tour of the LPGA heads to one more tournament in Michigan for the 14th playing of one of the most beloved Epson Tour tournaments on the schedule. The Island Resort Championship is set to take place June 20-22 at Sweetgrass Golf Club in Harris, Mich., with $225,000 on the line. The week is always action-packed and exciting.

Here are three things to know about the 2025 Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber:

One Past Champion Returns

Out of 13 past champions, only one returns to the Upper Peninsula, ready to take on Sweetgrass Golf Club once again. Daniela Iacobelli won the tournament in 2019 and hasn’t missed a year since, despite regaining LPGA Tour status in 2025. Outside of her win, Iacobelli has made the cut in Harris three times.

With the LPGA Tour in Frisco, Texas., for the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Iacobelli found herself on the reserves list, giving her an opportunity to return to the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber to try and pick up another title. So far this season, the 37-year-old has missed five cuts on the LPGA Tour and has made four cuts in six starts on the Epson Tour.

It’s the Final Event in the Pure Michigan Cup

New to 2025, the three Michigan tournaments, in collaboration with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, created the Pure Michigan Cup, awarding athletes with bonus money in addition to the three tournament purses.

The Pure Michigan Cup will award $20,000 in bonus money to the top 3 point earners at the conclusion of the three tournaments, with Cup points being awarded at the end of each tournament, mirroring the points earned in the Epson Tour’s season-long Race for the Card. To be eligible to earn the bonus money, athletes must compete in all three tournaments.

After two weeks of competition at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship and Great Lakes Championship at the Highlands presented by Johnnie Walker, Riley Smyth leads the way in the standings. Smyth won the inaugural Great Lakes Championship, adding 500 points to the 47 she earned in Battle Creek, Mich. She now leads by 47 points heading into the final week. The Bassters Returns

The Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber has one of the most unique opportunities for athletes to enjoy while on the golf course. And it isn’t related to golf.

Every year, on the Thursday before the tournament, 30 athletes head out to the island green (No. 15) in teams of two to participate in a fishing competition called The Bassters. Sign-ups begin at 11 a.m. local time on Tuesday, with athletes lining up at 7 a.m. to ensure they get a spot in the beloved event. Defending Champions Jenny Coleman and Dana Fall are teaming up again, with other past champions, Lindsey McCurdy Peek, Riley Smyth, and more, also competing.
