Sarah White may not physically be in Texas right now as the Epson Tour is embarking on a four-week journey throughout the Northeast and Midwest, but her adopted home is definitely on her mind and heart.

After the recent fatal floods that left various communities in the Lone Star State devastated, the Texas resident knew she needed to do something to show her support. And just like fellow Epson Tour member Britney Yada did in 2023 for the Hawaii wildfires, White started a “Birdies for Texas” campaign, personally donating money for every birdie and eagle she made during the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship.

“I'm just really excited to have the opportunity to support my community,” said White. “I know that I have a huge army behind me, and that if something happened to me, they would all rally, so I just want to do the same for my community.”

As the week went on, the news of the birdie campaign spread, both on-site and virtually. White’s sponsor, GameAbove, was the first to match her donations. But by the end of the week, the 28-year-old had loads of support, with her pro-am team committing to match the donations and Hartford HealthCare making a donation of their own to the links White provided on Instagram.

“It's so heartwarming to have people care. A lot of the news these days is horrible, but they don't get to see how much humanity actually comes together in times of need,” said White. “My cart scorer earlier came up to me, and then a lot of people at Hartford HealthCare have expressed such gratitude for what I'm doing for my community. Having a bunch of people around who understand the grief that goes with some of the natural disasters is incredible.”

When the tournament concluded and White had finished all four rounds, she ultimately recorded 15 birdies and one eagle. The total donation from herself, GameAbove, Goffe Law Group and her generous cart scorer came out to $1,000.

“I just am so out of words, just how incredible it is for a community that doesn't even grasp what's going on, just support me and my community,” said White. “I'm very grateful to have Hartford HealthCare come up to me and give me such praise for what I'm doing. It's something small. I wish I could do more, but it's incredible to just give something that I can.”

Although her birdie campaign ended with the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship, White will keep Texas on her mind as she continues her next stretch of tournaments at the Casella Golf Championship. She’ll tee it up on Pinehaven Country Club’s 10th hole at 8:08 a.m. local time on Friday.
