New to the 2025 season is a side competition that will take place during the three tournaments hosted in Michigan. The Pure Michigan Cup began at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, will continue through the Great Lakes Championship at the Highlands presented by Johnnie Walker, and ultimately will award $20,000 in bonus money following the conclusion of the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber.

In order to earn the bonus money, athletes must compete in all three tournaments, earning points each week that mirror the season-long Race for the Card point distribution. The top three point earners will receive a share of the $20,000, with the Cup winner earning $10,000, second place earning $6,000 and third place receiving $4,000. With one tournament of the three finished, the Pure Michigan Cup has its first-ever leader in Samantha Wagner. From her victory in Battle Creek, Mich., the Epson Tour veteran earned 500 points and a 180-point lead over another veteran, Sophia Schubert.

“The people who win (the Cup), it’s just a nice comfort boost,” said Wagner following her win. “Being out here, it's expensive, and to have any support we can get, like the sponsors are amazing for doing that, and you know, this stretch in Michigan is so much fun. It's probably my favorite part of the season. So to be out here and having a little extra to play for is always nice.”

Wagner will try to follow up her victory with another top performance at the Great Lakes Championship at the Highlands presented by Johnnie Walker, in hopes of adding more points to her campaign and eventually winning the inaugural Pure Michigan Cup. The competition resumes on Friday, June 13th, on the Heather Course at The Highlands.
