INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — The Epson Tour Championship at Indian Wells is officially through two rounds, and Anne Chen took control of the lead after an 8-under 64 on Friday. Her day included nine birdies and saw her card a 6-under 30 on the back nine. The 64 is her best round of the season and the second-lowest round of her career, just one shot shy of the 9-under 63 in round one of the 2024 Island Resort Championship.

Chen is still mathematically eligible to earn her LPGA Tour card this weekend and is in a solid position as the leader through 36 holes. If the Duke University graduate were to win the season finale, she would have a chance to find herself in the coveted top 15 and with LPGA Tour membership for the 2026 season.

Rookie Yana Wilson also made a push on Friday, gunning for the top spot in the Race for the Card rankings. The 19-year-old signed for a bogey-free 65 and has only made one bogey in 36 holes, proving that her game is ready to compete against the best in the world. With current No. 1 Melanie Green also playing weekend golf and in a tie for eighth, Wilson will need a big push on Moving Day to separate herself even more and hang on to the top spot in the Race.

At the conclusion of the Epson Tour Championship, 15 LPGA Tour cards will be awarded to the top athletes in the Race for the Card rankings. Despite 10 cards being clinched before the Championship, 59 athletes remained mathematically eligible to earn the five cards that were still up for grabs at the beginning of the week. Now, with only the top 60 and ties moving onto the weekend, 38 athletes are vying for the last five cards, making for a dramatic finish over the weekend.

Athletes who finish 11 to 35 in the Race for the Card will earn automatic entry into the Final Qualifying Stage of LPGA Q-Series, an expense that will be paid for by Seiko Epson Corporation. Additionally, athletes who finish 11 to 80 in the season-long points race will earn full Epson Tour status for the 2026 season.
