New to the 2025 season is a side competition that will take place during the three tournaments hosted in Michigan. The Pure Michigan Cup began at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, will continue through the Great Lakes Championship at the Highlands presented by Johnnie Walker, and ultimately will award $20,000 in bonus money following the conclusion of the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber.

To earn the bonus money, athletes must compete in all three tournaments, earning points each week that mirror the season-long Race for the Card point distribution. The top three point earners will receive a share of the $20,000, with the Cup winner earning $10,000, second place earning $6,000, and third place receiving $4,000. The inaugural Cup has a new leader following the Great Lakes Championship presented by Johnnie Walker. With the win, Riley Smyth earned 500 points to add to the 47 she earned the previous week in Battle Creek, Mich., overtaking Samantha Wagner's top spot and leading by 47 points. The rankings remain close, making for an interesting weekend in Harris.

"Any extra cash that we can get helps a ton, and just being able to win (the Cup) and get some extra money in the pocket always helps," said Smyth. "We appreciate it so, so much. These are three really great tournaments with three great sponsors. Just having that extra cash to play for is really great for the Tour."

Smyth, who picked up her second win of the season in Harbor Springs, is looking good to take home the inaugural Pure Michigan Cup after two tournaments. Consistent play, including three top-10 results this season, has been figuratively paying off and could pay off on Sunday with another top result at the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber.

But first, Smyth must hold off the rest of the field, including Samantha Wagner and Erika Hara, who sit in second and third place, respectively.

Epson Tour rookie Laney Frye made the most significant jump in the standings, thanks to her season-best finish of T2. Frye went from T34 in the standings to fifth and is just 71 points shy of third place. The 22-year-old needs a good finish at the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber to earn part of the prize money but isn't letting the Cup affect her mindset. She's thankful but determined, wanting to, first and foremost, play her best golf yet and see where the chips land.

"I guess I'm trying not to think about it more than anything," said Frye. "Not that it would hurt me, but I'm going to show up and try and play my best golf no matter what. So, that's just an added bonus, but yeah, it's a neat deal that they're doing."
