The Epson Tour enters the second stop in the four-week West Coast Swing this week at the Reliance Matrix Championship presented by Epson. Last week saw a shakeup as several new faces entered the mix after strong finishes at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort and Spa.

Briana Chacon made the jump to No. 2 in the Race for the Card from No. 22 after her win at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort and Spa. The win marks Chacon’s second career win on the Epson Tour, adding to her first professional victory at the 2024 Atlantic Beach Classic presented by Access Golf. The 23-year-old is off to strong start in her sophomore season, making all four cuts so far this year and has only finished outside the top-20 one time. Chacon found herself in a similar situation last year, winning early in the year but fell just short of earning her LPGA Tour card. Now, with some experience under her belt, she has another chance to earn her LPGA Tour card for the first time.

“I think I'm just going to take this win as momentum, build off this confidence that I have this week, and just keep going and just keep finishing strong,” explained Chacon. “Most of all, just try to finish strong at the end of the year. It's easy to have early success in the beginning of the year, but I think most importantly, just finishing strong at the end.”

Other big risers include rookies, Erika Hara and Megan Schofill. Hara turned pro in 2018 and has spent time as a professional on the JLPGA, winning five times in her home country. She has made an impact on the Official Qualifying of the LPGA Tour in her short time, making all four cuts with two top-10 finishes. The T6 result at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort and Spa bumped Hara into the top-15 in the Race for the Card into the No. 11 spot.

Schofill made her first start last week in Beaumont, Cali., getting into the event after a top finish on the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour. The Epson Tour rookie took advantage in her first start, finishing the week in solo 2nd and jumping from unranked to No. 9 in the Race for the Card. The top-10 finish earned Schofill a spot in the Reliance Matrix Championship presented Epson and she is a sponsor invitation for the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Championship, extending her one-week trip into three weeks.
