The field is strong at the 2025 Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber, with multiple current and former LPGA Tour members taking on Sweetgrass Golf Club in Harris, Michigan. Six of the seven 2025 Epson Tour winners will also tee it up, looking to pick up another trophy this season. Everyone wants to take home the Island Resort Championship trophy, a beloved tournament on the schedule, making for an interesting weekend ahead. Here are some names to keep an eye on throughout the week in Michigan:

Jiaze Sun

Sun was one of the top finishers in the 2024 tournament, earning a T7 result after the event was cut to 36 holes due to weather. It was her second top-10 finish of the season, just two weeks after earning a T8 result at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship. The Epson Tour sophomore has not earned a top-10 finish since last year’s playing, only making four cuts in nine starts so far this season, but could find her momentum switching with another good week in Harris, Michigan.

Currently 88th in the Race for the Card, Sun could benefit from a good finish, especially a win. She’s no stranger to the winner’s circle, claiming the 2022 CTBC Ladies Classic on the China Ladies Professional Golf Association (CLPGA), but she has yet to win in the United States.

Daniela Iacobelli

Iacobelli has status on both the LPGA and Epson Tours in 2025, earning that status from a 13th-place finish in the 2024 season-long Race for the Card standings. While competing on the LPGA Tour, the Florida native has missed five consecutive cuts, but this week on Epson Tour, she returns to a tournament that holds fond memories. In 2019, Iacobelli took home the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber trophy and tees it up in 2025 as the only past champion in the field.

On the Epson Tour in 2025, the 37-year-old has made four cuts in six starts and sits at No. 134 in the Race for the Card standings. A second win, or another top finish, at this year’s tournament, could boost Iacobelli’s ranking, giving her a shot at going from dual status to full-time status on the LPGA Tour in 2026.

Kaleigh Telfer

Telfer is the only athlete in 2024’s top six to return to the Island Resort Championship this year. The South African earned a T2 result in 2024, finishing the 36 holes just one shot behind the winner, Soo Bin Joo. Telfer signed for rounds of 70-67 to finish the tournament at 7-under, earning her second top-3 result of the season.

Lately, Telfer has made four cuts in nine starts, with zero top-10 finishes but two top-20 results. The 26-year-old is looking to go 2-for-3 in cuts made in the Great Lakes State after earning a T15 result at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship but missing the cut at the Great Lakes Championship presented by Johnnie Walker. Another top finish at Sweetgrass Golf Club would help the Auburn University grad move up the Race for the Card rankings and closer to the top 15 as the Tour heads into the second half of the season.

Riley Smyth

Straight off her win at the Great Lakes Championship presented by Johnnie Walker, Smyth will tee it up at the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber, looking for a third victory this season. Having already won twice this season at the Central Florida Championship and Great Lakes Championship, the Tequesta, Fla., native sits at No. 2 in the Race for the Card. She’s just 21 points from overtaking the current leader, Gina Kim. The 2025 season has seen the 25-year-old pick up one additional top-10 result, making seven cuts in nine starts.

Smyth also leads the Pure Michigan Cup standings with just one tournament left to play. On Sunday, following play, three athletes will be awarded extra prize money from the Pure Michigan Cup, with the winner taking home $10,000, second place receiving $6,000, and third place being awarded $4,000.
