We are one day away from the beginning of the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic. The field will take on TPC Scottsdale – Champions Course for the second straight year. Here are some names to keep an eye on throughout the week:

Michelle Zhang

Zhang has found success on the Epson Tour after joining in 2023, compiling nine top-10 finishes and never finishing outside the top 45 in the Race for the Card. The 20-year-old is still on the hunt for her first win on the Epson Tour, however, including last year at this event.

Zhang put herself in contention after opening the tournament with three straight rounds in the 60s, before a 3-over 74 in the final round dropped her into a tie for fifth. Now, in 2025, Zhang has gotten off to a solid start, making three of four cuts, as well as earning a top-10 result at the Atlantic Beach Classic presented by Access Golf and T12 result a week later at the IOA Golf Classic presented by Aperture. Zhang will draw on past experience this week as she looks to hoist a trophy on the Epson Tour for the first time.

Maddie McCrary

McCrary has been playing some of her best golf on the Epson Tour as of late, only posting one over-par round in her last seven rounds played. The past two events have seen the veteran finish inside the top 20 both times, with a T6 result coming at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort and Spa, her best finish since the 2023 French Lick Charity Classic where she finished third.

She has finished inside the top 50 in the Race for the Card every season that the Texas native has competed on the Epson Tour since 2020. This season feels different, however. McCrary battled injuries throughout the past couple seasons, but now she looks healthy and ready to compete for an LPGA Tour card. There is no better time to get into the winner’s circle than at the tournament with the biggest prize purse of the season.

Mohan Du

There was not much to say about Mohan Du up until last week. Before her runner-up result at the inaugural Reliance Matrix Championship presented by Epson, she had made six career Epson Tour starts, making the cut in just one.

Du got into the event as an alternate and is now inside the top 15 in the Race for the Card. Thanks to her top finish last week, the People’s Republic of China native earned entry into the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic and now has a real shot at securing her LPGA Tour card. If Du posts another strong result this week, her life could change in just under a month’s time.

Laney Frye

Frye has had one of the sneakier good rookie seasons so far, making the cut in all four of her starts and earning her first top-10 result last week. The rookie has been one of the more consistent players on Tour this season, with her highest round recorded so far being a 74.

Frye is currently No. 26 in the Race for the Card, and with her consistent play, is a player to watch out for when it comes to four-day events. The 22-year-old has adjusted quickly to the professional scene and is due for a breakout event at some point soon.
