Minji Kang
Kang is a rookie on the Epson Tour this year but has started the year like a seasoned professional. The 23-year-old has not missed a cut in her 2023 season and has only finished outside the top 30 once. In addition, Kang is coming off back-to-back top-15 finishes and seven straight under-par rounds over her last three tournaments. Currently, Kang sits one spot outside of the Race to the Card standings and is one solid week away from making her way into one of the coveted 10 spots to help her try to secure her LPGA Tour card for the first time.
Sophie Hausmann
Hausmann is a former champion on the Epson Tour, winning the IOA Golf Classic’s sister event, the IOA Championship, in 2021. It has been two years since Hausmann was able to hoist a trophy, but the German is finding her game early in 2023. In her last three starts, she has two top-10 finishes and has only missed one cut so far. To go along with her strong play this season, Hausmann has also found success in the past at Alaqua Country Club. This will be her fourth appearance at Alaqua; in her last three starts, Hausmann has two top-20 finishes, one of which was a T6 in 2022. With her game coming into form and positive memories at the IOA Golf Classic, expect to see her name near the top of the leaderboard during the weekend.
Jenny Coleman
Coleman has the most experience of the three players to watch. The 30-year-old has spent the last three years as a full member on the LPGA Tour before losing full status and is now a dual member of the Epson Tour and LPGA Tour in 2023. Coleman has recorded 17 top-10 finishes on the Epson Tour since her rookie year in 2015 and added three top-10 finishes while on the LPGA Tour. The University of Colorado Boulder alumna has played in all six events on the Epson Tour so far in 2023, only missing one cut. Her best finish came at the Copper Rock Championship, where she fell just short of capturing her first win on the Epson Tour or LPGA Tour, losing in a playoff to Savannah Vilaubi. Coleman has all the experience and all the game to compete this week at Alaqua Country Club.
