Xiaowen Yin has set numerous goals for herself throughout her rookie season and has exceeded almost every one of them. The 17-year-old won back-to-back tournaments, saw her name among the top-10, clinched her 2023 LPGA Tour card, became No. 1 on the Epson Tour and finished the season as Gaelle Truet Rookie of the Year. While Yin hoped to remain in the top spot and be named Player of the Year, she’s happy with the season and looks forward to competing among the best on the LPGA Tour next year.
Yin’s accomplishments had an extra wow factor as she was the youngest player on the Epson Tour this season and the youngest to clinch her LPGA Tour card through the top-10. Now, she takes the title as the youngest player to be recognized as the Gaelle Truet Rookie of the Year.
“I was pretty excited to be the youngest player on tour,” said Yin. “I think it was pretty cool. It’ll be a little pressure [next year], but I believe I could get used to it on the LPGA.”
Having support from the Seiko Epson Corporation has positively impacted Yin’s golf career so far, and she’s thankful for her time on the Epson Tour. The 17-year-old grew on and off the course during her rookie year and values the experiences provided to her.
“The Epson Tour gave me a lot of confidence,” said Yin. “I learned a lot and got a lot of experience. I played with girls from all around the world, which is the same on the LPGA.”
Yin looks forward to her career on the LPGA Tour, as well as continued support from the Seiko Epson Corporation. With just a little over two months until her LPGA rookie debut, Yin plans on keeping her foot on the gas and preparing to knock down more of her goals.
“I’m pretty proud of myself,” said Yin. “The hard work has paid off, but now it’s just started. I need to work harder for next year.”
