The Epson Tour tees it up this week for the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout; the 108-player field will compete for a $225,000 purse from September 23-25 at the Mystic Creek Golf Club.
Three featured groups highlight the competition:
Gabby Lemieux, Dani Holmqvist, Amy Lee
8:14 a.m. – 10th
Gabby Lemieux, Dani Holmqvist, and Amy Lee are grouped together during the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout opening rounds. Lemieux has had her share of struggles this season, with only one top 10 result that came last month at the Four Winds Invitational. But with another top 10 performance, she will continue to move up the in the standings.
Holmqvist sits at No. 10 in the Ascensus Race for the Card standings and is coming off a T4 result at the Guardian Championship. She has five additional top 10s and looks to keep her foot on the gas for a final push of the 2022 season to secure her spot on the LPGA Tour next year.
Rounding out the group is Lee. She has one top 10 this year and had a solid week at the Guardian Championship, finishing T13. This will be her third start in El Dorado, where she looks to improve her T14 result last year.
Clariss Guce, Kum-Kang Park, Jillian Hollis
12:33 p.m. – 10th Tee
The defending champion Kum-Kang Park headlines this group along with Clariss Guce and Jillian Hollis. Park comes to Mystic Creek Golf Club with many fond memories from 2021, from her 77 in the opening round to her 65 in the final round to hold off Lilia Vu, Yaeeun Hong, and Fatima Fernandez Cano for a two-stroke victory.
This marked her first win on the Epson Tour.
Guce is hoping for a surge to end the season and started her push last week with her best finish of the year, T2 at the Guardian Championship. The California native has an additional top 10 and is looking for career-win number three. She currently sits 25th on the Official Money List.
Hollis has five top 10s on the season, including a win at the Circling Raven Championship, and she sits at No. 9 in the Ascensus Race for the Card standings. She is in an excellent position to secure her card for the 2023 LPGA season with another solid performance.
Maria Torres, Linnea Strom, Sarah Jane Smith
12:44 p.m. - 1st Tee
Most recent Epson Tour champion Maria Torres enters the Natural State following her first career win on the “Road to the LPGA” at the Guardian Championship. The result ends a stretch of six cuts missed over the previous seven starts. Torres will play alongside Linnea Strom and Sarah Jane Smith in the opening rounds.
Strom is putting together one of her strongest Epson Tour campaigns yet. Through 14 starts, she has made it to the weekend on 12 occasions, including a step inside the winner’s circle at the IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. Since her rookie year in 2018, Strom has nine top-10 performances, including two wins.
Rounding out the group, Smith makes her first start in El Dorado. Smith is a dual member and has been splitting time on both the LPGA Tour and Epson Tour this season. She has two top 10 results, and with another solid week, she has an opportunity to move up in the race standings.
