With ongoing labor negotiations delaying not only the start of spring training but Opening Day - a work stoppage that could jeopardize the entire 2022 MLB season - baseball fans in Central Florida are mourning the loss of their winter pastime.
But the Epson Tour is offering relief to those grieving fans. Any person holding a ticket to a spring training game may present it at the gate of the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic and receive free admission to see the future stars of the LPGA Tour. The first round of the season-opening Epson Tour event at the Country Club of Winter Haven is Friday, March 4, with the final round concluding on Sunday, March 6.
Tickets are normally $10 for the day and $25 for the week.
“We are thrilled to offer an outlet for disappointed sports fans who might have come to Florida to see their favorite MLB teams,” said Mike Nichols, the Chief Business Officer of LPGA Qualifying Tours. “As a baseball fan, I’m just as frustrated by the work stoppage as anyone. But this is also a chance for those who love sports to see the most accomplished up-and-coming athletes in women’s golf, who also happen to be the most accommodating professionals in all of sports.
“We welcome baseball fans to the Epson Tour. Come out and enjoy the ‘Road to the LPGA.’ You won’t be disappointed.”
