PENDLETON, OREGON – The 132-player field for the inaugural Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic has been finalized by the Epson Tour. The “Road to the LPGA” concludes its two-week swing in the west in the Beaver State from September 2-4 at Wildhorse Golf Course in Pendleton, Oregon.
Individuals will compete in a 54-hole, stroke-play format for $200,000 and a winner’s share of $30,000. A cut will be made to the top 60 and ties after 36 holes. Admission for the tournament is $5 per day.
“We are extremely honored to host an Epson Tour event at the Wildhorse Resort & Casino,” said Wildhorse CEO and Tournament Director, Gary George. “We consider ourselves an entertainment hub in Eastern Oregon, and we’re proud to bring a professional event to the homelands of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) and WRC. More importantly, professional golf can be enjoyed by our Tribal and local Youth, and golf enthusiasts from around the region.”
Eight of the top-10 players in the Race for the Card will compete for this week’s title, as well as 10 of the 14 2022 champions. The Epson Tour’s most recent champion, Jillian Hollis, will also tee it up following her win at last week’s Circling Raven Championship in Worley, Idaho.
“This win gives me a lot of momentum,” said Hollis. “I’ll take it one shot at a time and not get ahead of myself, staying super present has been huge for me. You worry about beating the person you were yesterday, and that’s what I’m going to take into next week.”
Oregon natives, Gigi Stoll, Haley Greb and Kennedy Swann return to their home state to try and earn the title of the first Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic champion. Greb, who is still an amateur, earned her spot in the field as a sponsor invite. Stoll and Swann look forward to having familiar faces on the course this week.
“It’s awesome to have an event in my home state,” said Swann. “It definitely makes me feel more comfortable being out here. I can’t wait to have friends and family out supporting!”
