Samantha Wagner (Windermere, Florida) claimed her career-best finish at the inaugural Copper Rock Championship after carding a final round -4 to finish -7 overall.
“I am super happy with how I played. Today was a really tough day and I stayed patient and just tried to keep the ball in play,” said Wagner. “I am a little disappointed because I feel like I left some out there. Not just today but the whole week, but overall, I am really happy with how I did.”
Wagner now has six-career top-10 finishes since she turned professional in 2018, three of which came last year. The University of Florida Gator averaged 307 yards off the tee this week and averaged 31 putts per round. It’s early in the Epson Tour season, but Wagner is happy with where she has started and looks forward to a full year on the Road to the LPGA.
“This is my second event, so it’s nice to have two good tournaments right out of the gate,” said Wagner, who finished T16 last week at the Casino Del Sol Golf Classic. “I definitely have a lot to build on and improve on as well, which is always great, so I am excited to see what the rest of the season has in store.”
