Averaging 294 yards off the tee for the first three rounds in Tucson, Ariz. Lilia Vu (Fountain Valley, California) finds herself 11-under par on Saturday. Sitting in solo second heading into the final round, Vu is five strokes off the lead but will tee off in the final pairing at Sewailo Golf Club with Morgane Metraux and Ruixin Liu (Guangdong, People’s Republic of China).
“Front nine I got off to a hot start. I birdied the first hole and was able to birdie the third and fourth as well. As we came in the back nine, I didn’t play as well as I wanted to, but I still stuck through it well, so I am not too sad about that,” said Vu.
With the Casino Del Sol Golf Classic being a new event on the calendar many members are competing here for the first time, but the two-time All-American and 2012 Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year has been here before with the University of Los Angeles Bruins.
“I’ve had two past tournaments here in college and done pretty well. It’s really nice to be out here again. I love this course,” said Vu. “I had a lot of fun; my coach was great. I remember playing out here when we won the Pac-12 Championship so good memories here.”
