After carding her career-best round this afternoon, Carley Cox (China Grove, North Carolina) is tied for the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic lead of 4-under par.
“Knowing the conditions would be soft today, I knew that there would be some birdies out there and you can be pretty aggressive at some flags but honestly I just kind of treated it as another day,” said Cox. “I got hot there between like 18 and 3 I think. I just rolled in a few putts, and hit it pretty close on those holes as well so I would say in that stretch the combination of ball striking and putting (was my strength).”
The Eastern Carolina University Pirate is looking to make the first cut of her Epson Tour career. With last season cut short, the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic is Cox’s eleventh start on the Road to the LPGA. While still learning the ropes of “tour life” Cox is happy to have her mom as her caddy.
“She's awesome she's my rock she we often laugh because she's like caddying is a lot like being a mom you know just take care of you to be there for you someone to talk too so she's great we had the best time traveling together she is my rock.”
