One of the 2018 NCAA National Champion’s Gigi Stoll (Beaverton, Oregon) and Stanford University alumna Casey Danielson (Osceola, Wisconsin) both sit three-strokes back from the lead going into Saturday.
“It feels good. I think overall I played pretty well. Kind of left a little out there but feel pretty good,” said Stoll. I” think the front nine in general plays pretty solid. I really like how a lot of them are set up and I think it fits my game really well, so I am excited to go into the weekend.”
Stoll played the first 36 holes with Tucson native and fellow former Wildcat Krystal Quihuis.
“It was fun. We were talking about a lot of memories and it’s always good to play with familiar competition,” said Stoll. “It’s awesome knowing people locally are supporting us and that the city is still behind us.”

Lilia Vu (-8, T3) on focusing on having fun while competing as a professional:
“I just met them yesterday, but it feels like we were all rooting for each other. It was really nice, hard to find people like that but it’s really fun to have nice people to play with. Having fun is something I really try to in cooperate. I was an LPGA Tour rookie in 2019 but was I was so tied to outcomes, so I realized if I just have fun the results will come on their own.”
Ruixin Liu (-8, T3) on making birdie on the last hole:
“It was left to right and downhill. I just tried to get the speed right because my putting wasn’t going well until the last three holes. It’s so hard for me to read these greens so I was surprised it went in. There are a few holes on thi course that are really challenging so being bogey free today and hitting eighteen greens I am pretty happy.”
Casey Danielson (-6, T5) on spending time in Arizona for the off season:
“Being in Scottsdale for the off-season, I definitely feel a little more comfortable on the desert golf courses where they are a little firmer and you have to play the front edges. You can’t go at every pin, so it is different, but I enjoy it. It’s a good challenge and a good test of golf. I played some really solid golf the past two days so I am going to try and continue doing the same thing.”
