A final round 3-under par 68, was enough for Amanda Doherty (Atlanta, Georgia) to enter a playoff, but fell just short of her first “Road to the LPGA” win. Nonetheless, the 23-year-old earned her fourth career top-10 finish and career-best runner-up. Doherty’s finish moves her to No. 7 in the Race for the Card.
“It’s feels pretty good. I haven’t put myself in the final group (until this week) and I have never played in a playoff, so I can’t complain about my best finish out here. I feel like I am playing really good and it’s a move in the right direction,” said Doherty. “I had not hit the fairway yet on No. 8, so my coach told me to go conquer eight and that was my goal today. I couldn’t do it out here without help and I am sure a lot of people out here feel the same way. You have to have people in your corner. My swing coach has been my with me for maybe eleven years and my family has supported my through everything.”
