In her fourth career start, Emma Broze (Nervieux, France) is 8-under par through two rounds in the sixth annual Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic at Brook-Lea Country Club. She birdied the last hole of the day, No. 9, to break away from the group and take a one-stroke lead into the third round on Saturday.
“It was like a long putt maybe about 8 yards, but it was kind of a long putt up hill and I needed it to get there. And I had the perfect line and it dropped so it was good,” said Broze. “There are lot of like birdie chances out there so if you hit every fairway, you will have a chance to make one. The course is looking good, even though it is wet outside and I think it is a great course.”
Broze came to the United States in 2014 to start her collegiate career at Oklahoma State University. In her four years as a Cowgirl, Broze earned three All-Big 12 Conference selections, placed three times within the top-25 at NCAA Regionals, and recorded ten career top-10 finishes.
“I think spending four years there was great help because we played on a pretty hard course, always windy. Practicing in those conditions makes you better. I am still living there and close with the team, still working with them so I feel like from my time in college to going pro, I didn’t have a big transition. It was pretty smooth,”said Broze. “I didn’t know I was going to come to the states to play in college until my senior year of high school but I don’t regret anything. It was great to move here and learn a new language, culture, everything. My goal is to play at the top and OSU and the Epson Tour are helping me on that path.”
