Epson Tour professional Natalie Sheary (New Britain, Connecticut) returns for Episode 9 of her weekly instructional series, “Staying Sharp with Sheary.” The Wake Forest University alumna and past Epson Tour champion at the 2016 W.B. Mason Championship gives advice and drills to keep your game sharp—both physically and mentally—while at home and in practice at the course.

In this week’s episode, Sheary shows how to chip from a soft, wet lie around the green. The main goal is to make clean contact even in the soggy conditions. Sheary utilizes her sand wedge for this shot, opens the club face, aligns her hands at center of body and emphasizes the need to keep the swing shallow.

Furthermore, momentum must be generated from the shoulders and upper body to maintain control in the swing. Sheary also advises to keep the club face open throughout the duration of the swing so that it glides right under the ball, providing a clean lift.
