DAYTONA BEACH, FL. — The seventh stop on the 2020 “Road to the LPGA” takes the Epson Tour to LPGA International in the Sunshine State for the ninth annual Epson Classic from October 1-4.

From 2012-2016, the Epson Classic was contested at Raintree Country Club in Charlotte. The event then spent one year at Atlanta National Golf Club in Milton, Ga. before returning to North Carolina in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, and now travels to Florida for the first time.

“We are excited to bring the Epson Classic to the home of the LPGA this year,” said Mike Nichols, the Chief Business Officer of the Epson Tour. “We are particularly grateful to Epson for allowing us the flexibility to rework our schedule and play the Epson Tour Championship outside Charlotte, ensuring us the ability to present LPGA membership to 5 of our athletes at the conclusion of the season."

Greeting the 108-player field in Daytona Beach, Fla. is a total purse of $175,000. Individuals are set to compete in a 72-hole stroke-play format with a cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes. The winner’s share for the event is $26,250.

“We are so thrilled to be able to host the Epson Classic this year,” said Ryan Ronk, the Tournament Director for the Epson Classic. “These future LPGA stars have been working hard through all the obstacles that have come their way this year, and our tournament committee couldn’t be more excited to welcome these great young players back to the Daytona Beach area community and put on an event for them.”

Defending champion Leona Maguire (County Cavan, Ireland) is not among the competitors, as she finished No. 7 in the Volvik Race for the Card with $92,517. The victory was one of seven top-10 results and two wins for Maguire last season.

“Winning the Epson Classic has been one of the highlights of my professional career so far. I really felt at home competing again in North Carolina after spending four incredible years down the road at Duke University. I stayed with a fantastic host family beside the 16th tee box and it was great to have them cheering me on all week,” said Maguire. “It was my second win of the year and was a major part of me securing my LPGA card for the 2020 season. The Epson Tour was a great learning experience for me, we played some amazing courses and winning twice gave me a lot of confidence heading into my rookie year on the LPGA.”

First, second and final round action gets underway at 8:00 a.m. ET off No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Following the final group on Sunday, the trophy presentation will take place on No. 18 green.
