The Volvik Race for the Card welcomes a fresh top-10 following the 10th tournament of the 2019 Epson Tour campaign, with a couple moves up the standings and several players making a return to the mix.
Leona Maguire (County Cavan, Ireland) did not compete in the eighth annual Four Winds Invitational, but continues to set the pace with $74,993. Meanwhile, Perrine Delacour (Paris, France) climbs two places into the No. 2 spot after claiming her first title as a professional at Blackthorn Golf Club and cashing a $22,500 winner’s check.
“Finally getting a win after playing steady, consistent golf for a while now is so rewarding,” said Delacour, who trails Maguire by $6,841. “There’s not any possible way I can describe the feelings that would do it justice for me. The victory provides a good boost with my goals still in front of me and now seeming much more attainable.”
Continuing down the rankings, Julieta Granada (Asuncion, Paraguay) was not in St. Joseph County last week and drops one position having earned $55,680 across eight starts. A pair of 2019 Epson Tour champions in Nuria Iturrioz (Mallorca, Spain) and Jillian Hollis (Rocky River, Ohio) are hot on her heels, as a difference of only $1,353 separates the trio.
Leading the second half of the top-10 is Maddie Szeryk (London, Ontario, Canada). Her second top-five performance in as many starts has the Texas A&M University alumna at $39,152. Maria Parra (Guadiaro, Spain) checks in at No. 7 with total season earnings of $36,786, then Kyung Kim (Chandler, Arizona) sits $3,268 back thanks to a solid showing in the Hoosier State to move up four spots.
“The name of the game is to keep improving and give yourself as many chances as possible,” said Kim, who finished tied for fifth in South Bend. “Whether I stay in the top-10, or work my way back, the ultimate goal is to be there when the Epson Tour Championship ends in October. I will do all I can to pursue that and think I have a good shot with where my game is at.”
Rounding out the group is Ssu-Chia Cheng (Taipei, Chinese Taipei) and Min Seo Kwak (Seoul, Republic of Korea) with $32,704 and $31,661, respectively. At the end of the season, the top-10 players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2020 season.
