The Volvik Race for the Card welcomes a fresh top-10 following the 19th tournament of the 2019 Epson Tour campaign, including several moves up the rankings.
Perrine Delacour (Paris, France) continues to set pace with total season earnings of $113,883. Meanwhile, Patty Tavatanakit (Bangkok, Thailand) stepped into the winner’s circle for a third time this season at the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge, jumping three spots to No. 2 at $110,487.
“Once I won in Rochester, my goal for the remainder of the year was to secure a third win and I’m lucky enough to have accomplished that goal,” said Tavatanakit, who has played the weekend seven times in eight starts as a rookie. “Now it should be smooth sailing in and the focus shifts to making sure my mindset is fully ready for the LPGA Tour level.”
Jillian Hollis (Rocky River, Ohio), Ssu-Chia Cheng (Taipei, Chinese Taipei) and Leona Maguire (County Cavan, Ireland) each slot down one position. All three players have at least one title on the year, while Hollis and Maguire are two-time champions. The former University of Georgia standout is tops among this trio with $96,102. Cheng trails that amount by $3,905, then it’s the Duke University alumna sitting at $84,149.
Leading the second half is Julieta Granada (Asuncion, Paraguay), having earned $78,064 across 15 starts and coming off a tied for seventh showing in the Mount Rushmore State. Robynn Ree (Redondo Beach, California) checks in next with $76,506 thanks to victories in The CDPHP Open and PHC Classic. Finally, Esther Lee (Los Alamitos, California) has No. 8 on lockdown just $1,370 back after a tied for third performance last week.
Rounding out the group is Min Seo Kwak (Seoul, Republic of Korea), sliding up one place having cashed $63,935. She is trailed by Jenny Coleman (Rolling Hills Estates, California) at $63,049. A total of $8,884 separates Kwak from Yujeong Son (Busan, Republic of Korea) in the No. 15 slot, who launched 12 spots with a career-best runner-up finish in Sioux Falls.
“Every year it is always a battle for the final few positions and comes down to the smallest of margins,” Kwak said. “Having been in the hunt before gives me a sense of what to expect. I hope to take advantage of that experience over the last events.”
At the end of the season, the top-10 players in the Volvik Race for the Card standings will graduate onto the LPGA Tour for the 2020 season.
