There’s a new No. 1 at the top of the Epson Tour’s Volvik Race for the Card. The move of the week belongs to Elizabeth Szokol, who jumped to the top spot with her win at the inaugural IOA Invitational. The second-year member’s only other start in 2018 resulted in a missed the cut; with her victory she catapulted to the top of the money list and sits $213 ahead No. 2 Stephanie Meadow.
Szokol started the final round of the IOA Invitational five shots off the lead in a tie for fifteenth, posting a bogey-free 4-under-par, 68, was enough to defeat rookie Pajaree Anannarukarn by one stroke to take home the victory.
Anannarukarn jumped 21 spots to No. 4 in the Volvik Race for the Card standings with her runner-up finish in Georgia. The rookie from Thailand has two top 10s in two starts this season on the Epson Tour and said she looks to continue improving her game – working on her approach shots and keeping it consistent.
“Try to learn a lot of things because this is my first year,” said Anannarukarn. “Looking forward to the next three tournaments and trying to do my best. Just enjoy the game.”
Rounding out the top-10 are No. 3 Lauren Kim, No. 4 Anannarukarn, No. 5 Karen Chung, No. 6 Daniela Iacobelli, No. 7 Annie Park, No. 8 Charlotte Thomas, No. 9 Carleigh Silvers and No. 10 Brittany Marchand.
The top 10 on the Volvik Race for the Card money list at the conclusion of the Epson Tour Championship earn LPGA Tour membership for the 2019 season.
