Entering the seventh tournament of the 2018 Epson Tour season, we are approaching the one-third of the way through the year mark and there is still much to be decided in the Volvik Race for the Card.

One thing that’s certain is Jenny Haglund (Karlstad, Sweden) maintaining a firm grasp on the No. 1 position. In her first five career Epson Tour starts, Haglund has finished in the top-20 each time, including a win at the Epson Classic and four top-10s, with three of those being top-five results.

The early-season performance has earned Haglund $45,623 and left her $9,354 clear of current No. 2 Dottie Ardina (Laguna, Philippines). From there, only $63 separates Ardina and Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Illinois). She is poised to leapfrog Ardina with a strong showing at this week’s Four Winds Invitational.

“I’m looking forward to the next four events, especially since they’re all in the Midwest and close to home,” said Szokol, who has two top-five finishes this season, including a win at the IOA Invitational. “It was great to have a week off to regroup and spend some time working on my game. I feel refreshed and ready for the next stretch, with high expectations for June, as I really like the next few golf courses we play.”

Checking in at No. 4 is Vicky Hurst (Melbourne, Florida), followed by a group of four players within $3,655 of each other. Leading the pack is Stephanie Meadow (Jordanstown, Northern Ireland), one of two individuals on Tour with double digit sub-par rounds this year, the other being Haglund.

Just behind the former University of Alabama four-time First Team All-American is rookie Pajaree Anannarukarn (Bangkok, Thailand) at No. 6, most recent Epson Tour winner Louise Ridderström(Stocksund, Sweden) and Lauren Kim (Los Altos, California).

“It is still very early in the season, but to be in this spot is very encouraging when it comes to my goals and where my game is at,” said Meadow, who ranks second on Tour with 68 birdies. “What motivates me is the next shot. Of course it is great to climb the rankings, but in order to do that, I have to perform every week to the best of my ability.”

Rounding out the top-10 is Charlotte Thomas (Guildford, England) and Linnea Ström (Hovas, Sweden) at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
