Louise Ridderström won the 2018 Valley Forge Invitational on Saturday, May 26, at Raven's Claw Golf Club after shooting a competitive course record of 8-under par 63 to finish the tournament at 16-under par overall, four strokes clear of second place. The win comes off a previous career-best finish of tied for fifth at the Epson Classic.
Last week was a week I will remember for the rest of my life. Not only did I win for the first time on the Epson Tour, but it was also my first win as a professional. One thing that I would say went very well last week was the way I handled myself mentally, especially in connection to being in contention.
In the past I have struggled with the thought of winning, but this time I was able to work my way around it and figure it out. It is crazy that telling yourself winning isn't always about skills, but about having a little bit of luck as well, was the difference that made winning possible for me.
The win means a lot to me since it showed me that all the things I am doing and working on is leading me in the right direction, one which will bring me to my ultimate goal of being a full-time player on the LPGA Tour. I can't wait for the rest of the season and what it will bring.
