The Epson Tour tees it up this week for the PHC Classic; three featured groups highlight the 156-player field that will compete for a $100,000 purse from August 10-12 at the Brown Deer Park Golf Course.
Kendall Dye, Eun Jeong Seong, Stephanie Kono
8:25 a.m. – 10th Tee
There is plenty of firepower in this group as Kendall Dye, Eun Jeong Seong and Stephanie Kono will play together the first two days. The last three Epson Tour event winners head off the tenth tee on Friday morning, each looking to earn their second win of the season. Dye has one additional top 10 this year in just five starts. The highlight of her season so far was securing her third career victory at the Fuccillo Kia Classic of NY last month. This will be her third appearance in the PHC Classic.
Seong, a rookie this season, is ranked No. 6 in the Volvik Race for the Card standings. She has three top 10s this year including the win three weeks ago at the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic. Seong ranks first on Tour in scoring average at 69.57. She is making her first start in Milwaukee.
Kono picked up her first career win in mid-July at the Donald Ross Classic at French Lick and looks to become the first two-time winner of the season. She is making her third start in Milwaukee.
Charlotte Thomas, Jenny Coleman, Ruixin Liu
8:58 a.m. – 1st Tee
Charlotte Thomas is playing alongside Jenny Colemen and Ruixin Liu during the opening rounds of the PHC Classic. Thomas has yet win on the Epson Tour this season but has amassed five top 10 finishes in thirteen starts which has her sitting at No. 13 in the Volvik Race for the Card standings.
Coleman looks to earn her first Epson Tour win as she makes her third start in the PHC Classic. The fourth-year member currently sits No. 23 in the Volvik Race for the Card standings and is on the move with her consistent performance this season; with four top 10s in thirteen starts.
Don’t count Liu out this week on picking up her second win in 2018; the second-year member posted a T-4 result at last year’s PHC Classic. Liu currently sits seventh in the Volvik Race for the Card standings and with a good showing this week, a step closer to earning LPGA membership for the 2019 season.
Dottie Ardina, Min Seo Kwak, Clariss Guce
2:08 p.m. – 10th Tee
This group has top-level talent. Dottie Ardina has three runner-up finishes this year and sits atop the Volvik Race for the Card standings with nearly $60,000 in earnings. Ardina is coming off a missed cut at the Fuccillo Kia Classic of NY, so there will be extra motivation this week to pick up her first win and expand her leading the race standings. She is grouped with Min Seo Kwak and Clariss Guce in the opening rounds.
Kwak, a two-time winner and inaugural Potawatomi Cup winner, enters this week with four top 10s on the season primed for her third career win. She ranks ninth on Tour in scoring average at 70.96 and sits tenth on the money list. This will be Kwak’s first start in the PHC Classic.
Guce had an excellent week at the Fuccillo Kia Classic of NY, finishing T3. She has three additional top 10 finishes on the season; T7 at the Forsyth Classic, T5 at the Epson Classic and T3 at the IOA Championship. Guce is making her third start in Milwaukee.
