The seventh event of the 2017 season is about a week away and it’s a pivotal one. The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Classic in Greenwood offers a $30,000 payout for the winner and thus carries a lot of weight. All three winners (Wei-Lind Hsu, Alejandra Llaneza and Madelene Sagstrom) finished inside the top 10 in part because of their wins in Greenwood. Here are five names that could bring home the trophy on Sunday, May 14.

Alejandra Llaneza – any list for this years’ event has to start with Llaneza because she won in Greenwood in 2015. She posted four really solid rounds that year (70-68-69-71) to win by one shot over Casey Grice. Llaneza hit an incredible bunker shot on the 72nd hole to seal the narrow win over Grice. Llaneza also finished T8 in Greenwood in 2014 so she has a really good track record at Stoney Point. She didn’t play in Greenwood last year as she was playing on the LPGA. In eight rounds at Stoney Point, she has been even-par or better seven times. Llaneza has been solid this year, but hasn’t had the great result yet. She has made five of six cuts and has two top 20 finishes. Maybe a return to the location of her first and only win will bring the best out of her.

Anne-Catherine Tanguay – nobody has been more consistent on Tour this year than Tanguay, who has finished inside the top 14 in all five of her starts. She ranks fourth on the Volvik Race for the Card money list and a win would go a long way in supplanting her spot in the top 10. Eleven of her 15 total rounds on Tour this year have been under-par and she leads the Tour in total birdies (61). She’s also putting very well which is key at Stoney Point. She ranks 3rd in Putts per GIR (1.77) and 15th in putting average (27.80). Tanguay also performed well in her only trip to Greenwood in 2015 when she placed 10th. Based on her finishes this year, it appears it is not “if” but “when” Tanguay will hoist a trophy and Greenwood would be a great spot.

Cindy LaCrosse – the 2010 Epson Player of the Year is getting closer and closer to finding her form and that’s a scary thought for the rest of the Tour. LaCrosse finished fourth last week in Milton, Georgia for her 18th career top 10 finish on the Epson Tour. She now ranks 12th on the Volvik Race for the Card money list in six starts with a pair of top 10 finishes. The four rounds should favor LaCrosse, who has made 88 starts on the LPGA Tour from 2011-2016. She is getting more and more comfortable with the swing changes she implemented and she’s trending towards a win. Her only disadvantage is that she has never played Stoney Point.

Emily Pedersen – the 21-year-old from Denmark ranks No. 120 in the world according to the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. She currently ranks 22nd on the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit. Pedersen finished seventh on the LET a year ago. She came over from Denmark last week and finished T44 in her debut at the Epson Classic. Now that she is more accustomed to the Tour, you’ve got to figure the results will follow. She currently ranks seventh in LET Solheim Cup points so she could also be a captain’s pick of Annika Sorenstam’s later this summer.

Katelyn Sepmoree – the former Texas Longhorns golfer has fared well in Greenwood. Last year, she finished T7 and in 2015 she finished T32. She finished T34 as a rookie in 2014. So, she’s played the course three times and has finished in the top 35 all three times with one top 10. Here is the other thing to note about Sepmoree. She is coming off a T20 at the Epson Classic last year and has one top 10 this year. She can stripe the ball, talk to anyone that has ever been on her bag. It will come down to the flatstick for Sepmoree. Right now, she ranks 112th on Tour in putting average (31.50), but if the putter is on she can be deadly. She regressed a bit in 2016 as she finished 47th on the money list after finishing 27th in 2015, but a strong finish last week has her believing.
