NO. 22 ON VOLVIK RACE MAKES PUTTER SWAP

Caroline Inglis (Eugene, Oregon) made a recent putter swap and things are clicking. She enters the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout off two straight top 10 finishes at the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge (T5) and the Garden City Charity Classic (T10).

Inglis was actually going to skip next week’s event in Alabama, but after her recent success, she is going after a spot in the top 10.

“If I want to get my card, I can’t take any events off,” said Inglis, who already has conditional LPGA status so she is exempt to Final Stage of LPGA Qualifying Tournament. “I feel like I am playing well right now and am putting together some good rounds. I know I am a long way out (of the top 10) money wise, but one good week and you’re right there.”

Inglis is approximately $18,000 outside the top 10, but a win this week could move her as high as 15th with three events left.

“In the off weeks, I was working a lot with my coach and I made a putter change, “ said Inglis. “My putter is feeling good, my ball striking is good and I’m in a good spot. It was a big adjustment at first (pro golf), but I’ve settled in now.”

Inglis switched to a Scotty Cameron putter. She was using an Edel putter for the last seven years, but just felt like a change was needed.

STEPHANIE NA CALLS MYSTIC CREEK “PURE”

It is no longer a secret that Mystic Creek Golf Course is one of the premier courses on the Epson Tour.

“The conditions are pure,” said Stephanie Na, while practicing on the putting green before the pro-am. “It’s an awesome golf course. Everyone is saying that it will be the best course that we play and it is definitely up there.”

Na, a native of Adelaide, Australia, said it reminded her of a course back home called Brookwater Golf Course. She used to take lessons there.

Na is coming off her best finish of the 2017 season, a T6 at the Garden City Charity Classic to move up to 52nd on the money list. It was her second top 10 and both have come since mid-July.

“It was nice to play solid golf the majority of the week,” said Na, who stumbled on the back nine Sunday when she had a real chance to win. “There were super tough conditions (wind), but I like that because I grew up playing Royal Adelaide, which is links style golf. When I played in Europe, I always loved playing in Scotland and England.”

Na’s goal for the rest of the season is to play her way into Final Stage of Qualifying Tournament. She

contemplated going to play in the MCKAYSON New Zealand Women’s Open, but decided to stay in the U.S. to continue to climb the money list. The New Zealand Women’s Open carries of purse of $1.3 million so it was a bit of a tough decision, but Na feels like she’s playing well enough to warrant staying here.

14-YEAR-OLD UCLA COMMIT HOPES TO MAKE CUT

Zoe Campos (Valencia, Calif.) grew up playing Valencia Country Club with her idol, Alison Lee. Two weeks ago, she committed to play college golf at UCLA, where Lee played for one year. Now, Lee is competing on the LPGA and Campos hopes to do the same one day.

This week, she gets to play against professionals on the Epson Tour at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout.

“I can gain a lot of experience and knowledge from them,” said Campos, who is just a freshman in high school. “I’m just going to really watch how they play.”

Campos played 18 holes on Wednesday and said the greens were pretty tough. One of her playing partners was Conway native Summar Roachell.

“They (pros) talked about how young I am and told me that I have a lot of time,” said Campos. “They told me to just soak up the experience.”

Campos said she decided to commit to UCLA early because she has wanted to play for the Bruins since she was nine years old.

“Alison Lee is my mentor,” said Campos. “She has always played and practiced with me ever since I was young.”

In June, Campos won the AJGA KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational and earned the exemption into the field this week. She even got to take a picture with LPGA star Stacy Lewis.

“I just really want to make the cut,” said Campos. “I want to see how half of the field plays on Sunday.”

Former LSU golfer Elise Bradley got into the field on Tuesday and will make her Epson Tour debut this week.
Emily Childs has finished inside the top 10 in two straight events to move up to 27th on the Volvik Race for the Card money list. She finished 87th on the money list in 2016.
