Despite a double-bogey on the 15th hole, Katelyn Dambaugh (North Charleston, S.C.) finished solo second to move from 12th to ninth on the Volvik Race for the Card money list.
“It’s a really good finish,” said Dambaugh. “I’m out there just having fun with Michael (caddy) on the bag. I’m really happy with the result. Double-bogey kind of hurts, but it’s one bad shot. Can’t ask for too much more.”
Dambaugh started Monday on hole ten with a bogey, but made birdies on 11, 12 and 13. After the double on 15, she closed with three pars.
“It’s crazy right,” said Dambaugh about moving into the top 10. “I’m just going to roll with. If it happens (LPGA), it happens. I’m just going to go with the flow. I’ve 100 percent always been that kind of person.”
Dambaugh advanced to Final Stage of LPGA Qualifying Tournament in 2016 so she has played LPGA International.
“I remember liking it,” said Dambaugh. “I guess we’ll find out if I really like it this week.”
Dambaugh has now earned $63,023 in just 11 starts since graduating from South Carolina in May.
