The Country Club of Winter Haven will host the professional golf tournament March 10-12, 2017

WINTER HAVEN, FLORIDA, January 5, 2017 - The Epson Tour, Road to the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), announced today that the annual Florida’s Natural Charity Classic will move to The Country Club of Winter Haven in 2017. The tournament will be held the week of March 6-12 with the first round of the 54-hole tournament set for Friday, March 10.

Although the complete 2017 schedule has not been released, the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic will serve as the season opener this year.

“We look forward to having the Tour players test their skills on the course, newly renovated by Bill Bergin and Rees Jones,” said Josh Anderson, Head Professional and Interim General Manager of The Country Club of Winter Haven. “The Florida’s Natural Charity Classic has become a staple in this area and we’re thrilled to have a chance to host future LPGA greats.”

The LPGA and the Florida’s Natural Growers Foundation have partnered to host the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic in Polk County since 2009. This year’s event will mark the 21st consecutive year that the Tour has had a presence in Polk County dating back to 1997 (The Eaglebrooke Lakeland FUTURES Classic at The Club at Eaglebrooke).

“The Florida’s Natural Charity Classic is an event that we all look forward to participating in as the title sponsor,” said Chris Groom, Florida’s Natural Growers’ Chief Marketing Officer. “The continued support of the community makes it a great event.”

“The Florida’s Natural Charity Classic is a premier event on our schedule and I’m excited about our new home at The Country Cub of Winter Haven, which we anticipate will quickly become a top course on the Tour,” said Chief Business Officer Mike Nichols. “We are constantly looking for top courses and great tests to prepare our players for the LPGA, and I know The Country Club of Winter Haven will provide that opportunity.”

There will be pro-am events on Wednesday and Thursday, March 8-9 at The Country Club of Winter Haven open to businesses and all members of the community that want to get the experience of playing a round of golf with a Tour professional. Proceeds from the 2017 Florida’s Natural Charity Classic will benefit the Florida’s Natural Growers Foundation, which donated more than $272,000 to local Central Florida Charities in 2016. Over the last eight years, the Foundation has given grants totaling over $1.3 million dollars to the Central Florida area.
