Anne-Catherine Tanguay, who goes by “AC”, is one of the hardest working players on Tour, but on July 31st, in between the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship and the PHC Classic, she took a day off. She’ll remember July 31, 2017 for the rest of her life.
She took a trip with then-boyfriend-now-fiance, JH Trahan, to Chicago. It was their first time in Chicago so they did what all tourists would. They walked through the Magnificent Mile, passed by the river, went to the Navy Pier and then climbed to the 95th floor of the Hancock Center Building.
That’s where JH, who also has caddied for Tanguay all season, pulled out the engagement ring and asked her to marry him. Good news, she said yes.
It’s a good old fashioned golf love story. The two met when JH was 14 and AC was 12 during a junior golf camp. They stayed friends for many years through golf and began dating three and a half years ago.
“I’m really happy that my fiancé is here with me and it has been a game-changer for me this year,” said Tanguay, during a press conference at the CP Women’s Open, where she will compete this week. “He does a little caddying, a little coaching, a little bit of everything and I’m really excited about the engagement.”
Tanguay currently ranks 8th on the Volvik Race for the Card money list with six events left. She will return to the Epson Tour next week for the home stretch.
Wouldn’t a spot on the LPGA be a perfect year-long honeymoon for the newly engaged couple?
Congrats, AC and JH!
