Krista Puisite (Riga, Latvia) scrambled for par on the 18th hole on Saturday morning to finish at 1-under, 143 heading into the third-round of the Garden City Charity Classic. Puisite, who played college golf at Texas State, missed her drive right and had to laser one ahead and then chipped on and drained a 7-footer for par.

“I feel like I’m playing well because I am not thinking about my mechanics,” said Puisite, who finished T7 last week at the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge. “I may not be hitting it as good as I would like, but my short game is much better. I’m making putts and I’m making up-and-downs.”

Puisite restarted her second-round with the rest of the 22 groups at 8:00 a.m. on hole nine. She made par on nine and then made two birdies and no bogeys on her inward nine.

“On the nine holes I played today, I hit two or three greens (in regulation), but made so many up-and-downs,” said Puisite, whose putter has been on fire this week with 27 putts in the first round and 23 in the second. “I’m not thinking about technique and with Q-School (Stage II) coming up (in six weeks away) I have to go with what I have.”

Puisite moved from 60th to 47th on the Volvik Race for the Card money list with her top 10 last week. With another big finish this weekend at Buffalo Dunes, she may alter her plans of taking next week off.
