Nelly Korda, the younger sister of 4-time LPGA Tour winner Jessica, broke through with a victory on Sunday at the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge to move from 27th to 11th on the Volvik Race for the Card money list.
Korda posted rounds of 68-67-69-66 for a three-shot victory at 14-under, 270. Korda made four birdies on the front nine to move into the lead and made birdies on 14 and 15 to hold off Wichanee Meechai.
The rookie, who turned professional in February, is now in striking distance to join her sister on the LPGA.
“Having my first professional win out here is just amazing,” said Korda on Sunday. “The atmosphere today was just amazing. I could not have asked for a better day and a better week. “It has been my dream (LPGA) ever since I competed in the U.S. Open at 14 years old.”
Korda has really turned it on since mid-July. She has finished inside the top 20 in five of her last six starts and has four top 10 finishes during the span. She has five total top 10 finishes on the year.
Korda has now posted 10 consecutive rounds of even-par or better with nine of those rounds under-par. Her last over-par round was on July 30th in the second-round of the Kansas City Championship.
