Emily Collins didn’t play in the Island Resort Championship this past week. Instead, she caddied for her boyfriend and fellow professional golfer, Max Rottluff at the SIGA Dakota Dunes Open on the Mackenzie Tour, which is a feeder tour for the Web.com Tour.
Rottluff carded a final round 66 to earn his first professional victory.
“It was awesome,” said Collins, who is heading to play in the Tullymore Classic this week. “It was fun to see the game from the outside. Especially watching such great golf and feeling like I helped a little bit. It was a great week and one I will never forget.”
Rottluff is a recent Arizona State graduate. He picked up his first win in just his third professional start.
“To win in my third start after missing the first two cuts, that was certainly not on the radar and came unexpectedly,” said Rottluff. “I haven’t had the year that I was hoping for, but coming out with the win today gives me a lot of confidence. It’s a huge boost.”
Rottluff was very complimentary of Collins as a caddy.
“She was great. She’s a great player herself, and reading the greens she helped me a lot. I should listen to her a little bit more,” said Rottluff with a smile.
As for if Rottluff will return the favor and caddy for Collins on the Epson Tour, there are no plans for that at the moment although he will join her in Stanwood for a few days before the Tullymore Classic.
Collins currently ranks 52nd on the Volvik Race for the Card money list in nine starts.
