MILWAUKEE, Wisc., July 29, 2015 - The Epson Tour, Road to the LPGA, makes its first trip to the state of Wisconsin since 2007 for the inaugural PHC Classic at Brown Deer Park Golf Course from Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2. Admission is free for all three days of competition.

The top 144 up-and-coming professionals from the United States and around the world will compete for a $100,000 total tournament purse in the 54-hole stroke play format. The winner of the PHC Classic will earn $15,000 and take a big step up the Volvik Race for the Card money list. The top 10 on the end-of-season money list will earn LPGA Tour membership for the 2016 season.

PLAYERS RAVE ABOUT BROWN DEER PARK
The PHC Classic is the first professional golf event in Milwaukee since 2009, the last year of the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee. Brown Deer Park, which hosted the PGA Tour from 1994 through 2009, this week will host 144 of the rising stars in women’s golf.

“I love it,” said Volvik Race for the Card No. 2 Daniela Iacobelli. “I’m pumped that the PGA played here. To see all of the old scoreboard signs throughout the golf course there’s just a lot of cool stuff out here. I think it’s so legit that we get to play a course that the guys were on.”

This week the 144 players in the field at the PHC Classic will look to add their names to the list of players that have won at Brown Deer Park which includes Scott Hoch, Ben Crane, Corey Pavin, Kenny Perry and Bo Van Pelt.

“I think that it’s great that it’s back in Milwaukee,” said Kenosha native Carly Werwie. “It’s a great city and it’s a course that knows how to run a tournament which I think will be a lot of fun. I think the girls will really enjoy all of that.”

MADISON NATIVE JESSIE GERRY HOPES HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF AT BROWN DEER PARK
Madison native Jessie Gerry will feel some good vibes this week and not just because she’s playing a mere 70 miles from home.

“I played an amateur tournament, the Badger Mutual Insurance Brown Deer Women’s Amateur, here a few years back and was able to win, so it’s always fun coming back to a place where you’ve seen success,” Gerry explained. “It’s also really neat to play a course that used to host a PGA tour event and know some of the best in the game have walked these same fairways.”

The University of Wisconsin grad is also excited to be able to play in front of some friends and family who haven’t seen her play in years.

“I’m excited to have some family and friends come out that normally don’t get to see me play,” Gerry said. “I’ve always been so honored to play for the Badgers and represent the university all over the country so it’s extra special getting to return to the Badger State and compete.”

JUNIOR CLINIC A HIT AT BROWN DEER PARK
The Epson Tour, PGA Wisconsin Section and Brown Deer Park hosted a junior clinic on Tuesday for approximately 40 area junior golfers, who had a chance to interact with Epson Tour professionals Carly Werwie, Caroline Powers, Samantha Troyanovich, Cara Freeman and Michelle Shin.

The professionals demonstrated different shots and talked to the juniors about the importance of practice and balance in life.

“I think it is way more important to be on the course and practice that way than to stand at the range and hit balls constantly,” said Troyanovich, who took time to sign tournament pin flags for the kids and pose for pictures. “I enjoy doing the junior clinics, it gives me an opportunity to give back to the game I love.”

Epson Tour professionals also tried to hit Volvik range targets to give kids a chance to win prizes including a free Kona snow cone.

BUCKS’ JABARI PARKER ATTENDS PHC CLASSIC PRO-AM PARTY
Milwaukee Bucks’ 2014 first round pick Jabari Parker was in attendance at the pro-am party for the PHC Classic last night at the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino.

While Parker was popular among all of the players in attendance he had a Duke connection with a pair of them.

“I followed his career at Duke and it was so fun to watch him play in college,” said 2009 Duke grad Jennie Lee. “Lindy Duncan, another Tour player from Duke and I introduced ourselves and got a photo with him to represent our Duke family. We love following our fellow Dukies especially in basketball and we wish him the best in his NBA career.”
