Players are competing for the largest total purse in Tour history this year at $2.25 million

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (September 4, 2014) – The Epson Tour’s “Road to the LPGA” got a little longer this year. In its 34^th year, the tour added five tournaments to its schedule, making it 20 stops in total. Players are competing for the largest total purse in tour history this year at $2.25 million. With 144 players, each tournament stop nets a player between $100,000 and $150,000 in prizes. The tour began in February and concludes in Daytona Beach at LPGA International, September 18-21, 2014.

“We are excited to bring the Epson Tour Championship back to LPGA International and Daytona Beach,” said Mike Nichols, Chief Business Officer of the Epson Tour. “The Daytona Beach community has embraced the event and our players. We look forward to an exciting finish to what has been a banner year for the Epson Tour.”

Former alumnae of the Epson Tour include current Rolex Rankings World No. 2 Inbee Park, No. 13 Lizette Salas and former No. 1 Lorena Ochoa.

“The Epson Tour is a great spectator event for our visitors,” said Tom Caradonio, Executive Director of the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “The tournament committee has worked really hard to make this final stop of the tour a week-long celebration.”

The Epson Tour has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs as the tournament beneficiary. The goal is to grow the magnitude of the event by making it the season-ending championship event, building out a week-long schedule of supporting events while raising awareness for the tournament and the Boys & Girls Clubs. Cost to attend the event is $10, but is free to Volusia County residents with proper ID on Saturday, September 20. Kids are always free.

The Epson Tour Championship boasts a purse of $150k and the event is set to donate more than $125k to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia and Flagler Counties.
