GREENWOOD, SOUTH CAROLINA, May 5, 2014 – The Epson Tour, the official Road to the LPGA, is ready for one of the most anticipated events in Tour history, the inaugural Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic.

The first-round begins on Thursday, May 8 at Links at Stoney Point and runs through Sunday, May 11.

The top up-and-coming women’s golfers in the world will be competing for $200,000, the largest total purse in Epson Tour history. The winner will leave with a Tour record $30,000 and take a major leap towards capturing an LPGA Tour card for 2015.

Headlining the field this week are four players that enjoyed success in the most recent LPGA Tour event, the North Texas LPGA Shootout. Kim Kaufman finished in a tie for fourth and earned $60,653, while Stacey Keating finished T19, Sarah Kemp finished in a tie for 38th and Emma Jandel played into the weekend.

A total of 11 players that were in the field in last week’s LPGA Tour event are in the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic. They include: Kim Kaufman, Stacey Keating, Sarah Kemp, Alejandra Llaneza, Emma Jandel, Brianna Do, Jane Rah, Anya Alvarez, Caroline Westrup, Reilley Rankin and Veronica Felibert.

In addition to the LPGA connections, the event also features prominent names like Cheyenne Woods, the niece of PGA TOUR star Tiger Woods and Big Break Florida contestants Jackie Stoelting, Sadena Parks and Mary Narzisi.

The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic is the third event in a stretch of five weeks in a row for the Epson Tour. This week marks the seventh tournament of the year.

The Epson Tour schedule features 20 events this season, the most in 13 years. In addition, the total purse for 2014 of $2.25 million is the largest in Tour history.

KAUFMAN HAS BIG WEEK ON LPGA TOUR: Kim Kaufman is one of the dual status (LPGA and Epson Tours) players that will tee off at the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic. Kaufman currently ranks seventh on the Epson Tour’s Volvik Race for the Card money list with $18,748.

Last week, Kaufman competed in her second career LPGA Tour event at the North Texas LPGA Shootout and finished in a tie for fourth at 7-under-par. Kaufman finished ahead of Rolex Rankings number one Inbee Park and recent Kraft Nabisco Championship winner Lexi Thompson.

Kaufman also finished T42 at the LPGA LOTTE Championship Presented by J Golf earlier this year.

The 22-year-old has a win under her belt on the Epson Tour in 2014 at the Volvik Championship when she bested the field by four strokes.

In 15 career Epson Tour events, she has two victories and five top-10 results.

HOW THE EPSON TOUR WORKS: The Epson Tour is the official Road to the LPGA. Each year, the top-10 on the year-end Volvik Race for the Card money list receive their LPGA Tour cards for the following season.

The list includes Reilley Rankin, who has won $1.315 million in her LPGA Tour career. She has 14 career top-10 results on the LPGA Tour.

INCREDIBLE STRETCH FOR FENG: Volvik Race for the Card money list leader Cindy Feng is off to one of the best starts in Tour history. She has finished in the top-5 in five consecutive events.

The 18-year old has a chance to set the record for money earned in a Epson Tour season. In 2010, Cindy LaCrosse earned a record $94,578.

CONNECTION TO FURMAN UNIVERSITY: There are three players in the field this week that went to college in the state of South Carolina. Stefanie Kenoyer played at nearby Furman University, Fiona Puyo played at College of Charleston and Olivia Jordan-Higgins played at Charleston Southern University.

Reilley Rankin is from Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Beth Daniel and Sherri Turner both played at Furman.

VOLVIK RACE FOR THE CARD PLAYER TO WATCH: With her win this past Sunday at the Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial, Min Seo Kwak entered the top-10 on the Volvik Race for the Card money list for the first time this season. The $15,000 payout for her win moved her into fourth place on the money list with $19,556.

The win was her first on the Epson Tour in her 65th career start.

Kwak is an established player with LPGA Tour experience. She played in seven LPGA Tour events in 2012 and five starts in 2013.

Kwak used four consecutive birdies on the back nine to seize control of the event and won by three strokes over Stephanie Na. Kwak’s three-day total was 7-under-par 209.

Kwak will look to become the first repeat winner on the Epson Tour this season.

LPGA TOUR LEGENDS WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE: A total of 15 LPGA Tour legends will be in town for the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic to take part in a variety of events throughout the week.

There will be a Meet the Legends of Golf reception on May 5 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for members of Links at Stoney Point. The legends will also be playing in the pro-am on Tuesday, May 6 and attending the Meet the Pros & Legends of Golf on Tuesday night.

The list of legends that will be in attendance includes: Meg Mallon, Beth Daniel, Dede Cusimano, Jan Stephenson, Cindy Rarick, Pat Bradley, Hollis Stacey, Kris Tschetter, Sherri Turner, Nancy Scranton, Laurie Rinker, Dawn Coe Jones, Cindy Figg Currier, Barb Mucha, Rosie Jones.

Of the 15 legends that will be in Greenwood, three are members of the World Golf Hall of Fame; Beth Daniel, Pat Bradley and Hollis Stacey. In total, the legends in town this week combined for 20 LPGA Tour major titles and 151 LPGA wins.

Daniel won 33 times on the LPGA Tour including a major win at the 1990 LPGA Championship.

Bradley won 31 career LPGA Tour events including six major victories. Bradley won the Kraft Nabisco in 1986 and the U.S Open in 1981.

Stacey is a 4-time major winner and an 18-time winner on the LPGA Tour.

Mallon is also a 4-time major winner on the LPGA Tour. She is a two-time U.S. Women’s Open champion (1991, 2004).

SARAH KEMP IN THE FIELD: Sarah Kemp is in the field for the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic.

Kemp has played on the LPGA Tour since 2008 and has two career top-10 finishes. She has amassed on-course earnings that have exceeded $300,000 in her career.

Her most recent top-10 result came in 2011 when she finished T10 at the Safeway Classic presented by Coca-Cola.

Kemp played in five career Epson Tour events from 2006-2010.

FIRST 4-ROUND EVENT: This will be the first four-round event of the 2014 season for Epson Tour players. Nearly all Epson Tour events are three-rounds starting on Friday and ending on Sunday.

The only other four-round event on the schedule this year is the season-ending Epson Tour Championship Presented by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
