ORLANDO -- Growing up with two older brothers, Lexi Thompson is no stranger to competition.

Whether it was for chores or money, Thompson and her brothers, Nicholas and Curtis, would put wagers on who could beat whom out on the golf course.

"It's an intense match all the time when we're all home playing," Thompson said. "It was chores -- picking weeds, taking out the trash, emptying the dishwasher -- now it's more money."

The competition didn't end on the course, either. It would often move to the Xbox and a little game of Tiger Woods PGA Tour. More>>

Lexi Thompson shows she's got game

ORLANDO, Fla. -- What's next for 17-year-old golf phenom Lexi Thompson after charging through junior and amateur competitions and becoming the youngest player at the time to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open?

Being immortalized in a Tiger Woods video game, of course.

"I didn't see it coming, but once my manager, Bobby [Kreusler], told me, I was so excited to get this experience," Thompson said. "I mean to be on a video game ... there's nothing like that."

Except actually meeting Woods.

Thompson met her golf idol for the first time in August during a private reception for the competitors in the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge in Verona, N.Y. The 12-player tournament was split into two groups of six American golfers and six Asian golfers for an East versus West challenge. Thompson and Cristie Kerr were the two LPGA competitors invited to compete on the West team. More>>

Lexi cards 67; talks video games, new home

PHOENIX – Lexi Thompson’s appeal reaches beyond the LPGA.

The 18-year-old is among four young LPGA pros featured in this month’s Teen Vogue magazine. Thompson is also in the new Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 video game due out in two weeks.

Thompson will tell you she puts up better scores in real life than she does when she’s playing as her virtual self. Thompson joins fellow LPGA pros Paula Creamer, Stacy Lewis, Suzann Pettersen and Natalie Gulbis in the new game. While LPGA players have appeared in past editions of the game, this will be the first year the women’s tour will be featured.

“On video games, I’m not too sure what I’m doing,” Thompson said.

Thompson, 18, played with certainty Thursday in the first round of the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup. With a 5-under-par 67, Thompson moved a shot off the lead at JW Marriott’s Wildfire Golf Club. More>>

At 5-foot-11, Thompson is long and strong. Her prodigious length--she bombed one 327 yards at the Kraft Nabisco last spring--is the product of keeping up with the boys, namely older brothers Nicholas (once a regular on the PGA Tour) and Curtis, who is headed to LSU on a golf scholarship. "I think my length comes from competing with my brothers, and trying to hit it as long as they do," Thompson says. More>>

Golfer Lexi Thompson Reveals How She's Prepping for the Ladies Masters

At age twelve, Lexi Thompson was the youngest golfer ever to play in the U.S. Women's Open. At age fifteen, she turned pro. At sixteen, she set a record as the youngest-ever winner of an LPGA tournament. It's hard to believe that the now seventeen-year-old professional athlete's accomplished this much this early in her career (especially because unlike a sport such as gymnastics, golf isn't dominated by youngsters). Next up for Lexi is the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, which is part of the Ladies European Tour and starts on Dec. 5. She captured the tournament last year with a four-stroke margin (translation: it was a nail biter).
